Kraay's Archaic and Classical Greek Coins and Otto Mørkholm's Early Hellenistic Coinage from the Accession of Alexander to the Peace of Apamaea ( BC). Many other books as well as journal articles deal with narrower areas.   This coin was the largest silver coin of its time, and it popularized the use of a coin’s obverse as the “head” and the reverse as the animal’s “tail”.
